ABOUT

The inspiration behind the Slat Box Field House comes from Kengo Kuma’s Bato Hiroshige Museum of Art, where Kuma applies the use of wooden slats to manipulate light in a space. This manipulation of light can be exemplified in the Slat Box because as the hours pass the light inside the space changes according to the time of day. This shift provides a change in mood throughout the day, leaving visitors feeling relaxed at one point of the day and feeling energized at another time of the day.
